French Contrast Training is a highly effective method used by elite athletes to enhance their strength, speed, power, and overall athletic performance.
You won’t find this in any other golf programs, but in Lift Heavy, Swing Fast, we're all about pushing limits. We just finished a cycle of “Complex” training, and “Contrast” training takes it a step further.
What Is French Contrast Training?
The structure goes as follows:
- Heavy Resistance Exercise
- Force Plyometric
- Speed-Strength
- Speed Plyo
All done in order, with 20 seconds rest.
In the programming, you will see the many exercise variations we can use here.
The main reason we use this type of training is to take advantage of post-activation potentiation (PAP). Essentially, when we load up our muscles with a heavy resistance exercise before an explosive exercise, we can achieve a higher function of fast-twitch fibers and central nervous system activation.
When done correctly, this is one of the most potent ways to train for speed and power.
